HISTORY
BC Notaries are proud members of a select group of legal professionals commissioned by the Supreme Court of British Columbia. These unique legal advisors are highly trained in the provision of numerous non contentious services, including land law and all the important personal planning tools available to the people of the province – Wills, Powers of Attorney, Representation Agreements, and Advance Directives.
Throughout history, Notaries have been recognized as individuals of impeccable integrity practising in a Tradition of Trust. A Notary’s word, signature, and red Notary Seal are time-honoured testaments to the character and skill of these caring professionals.
Training for a career as a Notary Public involves an intensive, multi-phased program that can be undertaken after a university degree. After being screened for character, reputation, and integrity, suitable candidates are then admitted into the Notary Program. Notary students graduate not only with Notary designation but also with a Master’s Degree in Applied Legal Studies.
The tradition of Notaries goes back 2000 years – to the dawn of recorded history. The Notary’s reputation for trustworthiness meant that documents retained a stable reliability throughout the centuries of upheaval. A Notary’s commitment to you does not end once the documentation is signed and sealed. You can count on your Notary to ensure that your interests are protected.
